Here’s what he has to say about Republicans:

I think what the Republicans have done in past elections is brilliant. Because, they’ve convinced a lot of people to vote for them against their own economic self-interest, and they’ve done that by skillfully manipulating a handful of social issues, primarily abortion and *** rights and sometimes gun control, he says. And the Republicans have used those to scare a lot of people into voting for Republican candidates. It’s skillful manipulation.
I’m a little surprised that he would endorse Hillary, since it seems like a lot of his fans would be Bush supporters, or McCain voters.

So, it is courageous of him to take this stand. It would have been more courageous if he did not have millions and millions of dollars from his books and the movie rights.

DEM’S ONLY: Is there any truth to the analysis by John Grisham?

I’m particularly intrigued by the part against their own economic self-interest(s)

is there a well-defined basis for this?
Mary, I think that one of the qualities that makes manipulation a particularly insidious motivator is that *awareness* is not required for effect to take place.
