What is this book series?

A while back, I saw an advertisement for a book series…

It was a horror genre, and I’m pretty sure the author is famous for his horror books… (it wasn’t steven king)

I do remember, the main character had some super power…

I also remember the cover of the books showed the main character sitting on a bench…

I’m sorry I couldn’t give you any more details about it, but the book series looked very interesting…
The advertisement was in a People Magazine a few weeks ago, if it helps…

April or May 2008 People magazine book review. Please help me find the book title?

I am looking for a book that was reviewed by People’s magazine in April or May 2008. It was about a woman’s journey to self discovery through travel. It sounded just like eat, pray, love but its not that. I had just finished reading eat, pray, love when I read this review and would really like to read it. If I am not mistaken the authour was an Indian woman.
