review book for biology?

Is the diencephalon part of the brain stem?

From what I understand the brain stem consists of the medulla, pons and mid brain….ok fine… the mid brain extends from the diencephalon to pons; to me that means the diencephalon which is part of the mid brain IS part of the brain stem. BUT in my a p book it lists the diencephalon seperate. what do you think?
maybe I am unclear I am specifically asking about the BRAIN STEM, not all the major parts of the brain

What is the best AP-Biology review book if your biology teacher *****?
